Located on New Zealand’s central North Island, Rotorua is set amidst breathtaking natural
scenery and is home to dramatic forest landscapes and pristine lakes. Tucked away along the shores
of a lake, the city is a perfect destination for travellers who enjoy the great outdoors and want
to take part in multisport events in Rotorua.
Ideal for those looking for a winter festival in Rotorua, the 3D Rotorua Off Road Multisport
Festival is a fun outdoor event that was inaugurated in 2005. This much loved festival has
developed over the years to include a variety of challenges catering to a range of age groups. The
next 3D Rotorua Off Road Multisport Festival is scheduled to take place during the Queen's Birthday
Long Weekend on 3 June, 2012.
Events that take place amidst the mighty trees of the Redwoods Forest include a short 2 km
run for kids under 10 years old, as well as two competitions that combine walking and running
covering a 5.5 km and a 10.5 km course.
Those looking for something more challenging can take part in such competitions as the 21 km
half marathon that includes walking and running, a 30 km mountain bike course that takes riders
through the Whakarewarewa Forest and an 8 km paddle on Lake Okareka. The main competition is the 50
km multisport title race that offers a real test of endurance as competitors take on a course which
involves a combination of paddling, mountain biking and running.
Enjoying a central location, Millennium Hotel Rotorua makes a great base from which to visit
the attractions and experience the events of the city.
