Visitors to Whangarei hotels can enjoy a scenic journey around the area as part of a garden tour next month.

Whangarei Garden Discovery is scheduled to start on February 24th and will last for three days, in which time attendees can see 24 private green spaces.

"Each garden has that something special," the organisers stated, noting the region is "a paradise for subtropical plants and lush growth".

However, not all of the displays are focused on blooms, with some vegetable patches included this year, while "stunning views" can be enjoyed in coastal areas.

Furthermore, there will also be sculpture exhibits at the Whangarei Quarry Gardens on Russell Road, where people can attend talks, displays and workshops, as well as buy plants.

Visitors will also have the chance to vote for their favourite artworks to win the Palmers People's Choice Awards, while refreshments will be available at a number of the sites.
