Those who book a night at a Wellington hotel this weekend can make sure they arrive early for the Big Shwop eco-fashion event.

Taking place on Sunday December 11th, the extravaganza brings together a wide variety of people all looking to purchase new clothes and accessories without breaking the bank or harming the environment.

Attendees bring along their unwanted clothes - as long as they are high quality - and can then exchange them for any other of the fashionable items on offer.

There is also a chance to pick up a number of other environmentally-friendly goodies, while listening to live music on the day.

People hoping to join in on the fun will need to go to St James Theatre at Courtenay Place for 10:00am local time, which is when clothes that are brought along are exchanged for vouchers.

After a short interlude, anyone can then start hunting out their new wardrobe from 13:30pm.
