News|Take a look at the Ghost of Huia while in Palmerston NorthThe Ghost of Huia was designed by Paul Dibble, who the establishment says has many large works in the city that intend to communicate a message about the importance of the environment and the threat to it of mankind. Made of bronze, the artist's 2.5-foot model of the extinct huia bird was erected in 2011 and sits next to the Butterfly Quadrant in The Square. Zimmerman gave tips to those who want to come and look at this sculpture and others around the city on how to appreciate them. The gallery suggested paying particular attention to a piece's size as they can be "monumental", such as the 3.5-metre tall Who's Afraid, also by with Dibble and located on Broadway Avenue. Visitors could also think about where it is placed in the city, as often a sculpture suits its surroundings, look for details, walk around it to see its every part and touch it. Art lovers enjoying what is on display in Palmerston North may be interested in an exhibition at the Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and History this month (January) until February that celebrates the work of artist Ralph Hotere.
