Dunedin hotels may be a good place to stay for visitors to the Otago Museum for the establishment's event The Big Get Together.

There will be many activities available for all the family at the site when the occasion kicks off on March 11th.

The event will be held at the Museum Reserve and is free to enter between 11:00 and 16:00 local time.

"Get set for a day jam-packed with fun and excitement ... Grab your picnic, bring your family and friends and come down to the Museum for The Big Get Together!" the institution stated.

Some of the features of the festival will include live entertainment and food stalls, although no details have been released yet.

Dunedin's Otago Museum is a venue for many activities the whole family may enjoy, including the Otago Wildlife Photography Workshop this Thursday (February 9th).

The establishment has won a number of New Zealand Tourism Awards, including being named the best Visitor Activity and Attraction in the country in 2005.
