Talk of Aces in Auckland may suggest a tennis tournament is on, but in fact there is a harder ball involved in this sport.

Auckland Aces is the city's T20 cricket team and for those who fancy seeing the shortest form of cricket can see the current HRV Cup holders as they seek to defend their trophy.

Games are played at Colin Maiden Park, which is also Auckland University's ground, a venue that hosts no less than three T20 games in January.

Otago Volts will be hoping to provide some sparks on January 6th, Central Stags lock antlers with the home side on the 12th, while Canterbury Wizards hope to put on a magic display on the 17th, with all these games starting at 17:00 local time.

Fans are advised to arrive early to ensure they get a good view of the action, which will feature stars from New Zealand's own international side as well as some overseas players.

Those who fancy seeing a T20 international game in Auckland can do so on February 2nd, when New Zealand play Zimbabwe at Eden Park, the dual purpose ground where the All Blacks recently won the Rugby World Cup.
