Holidaymakers in New Zealand in time for Chinese New Year may want to book a stay in an Auckland hotel so they can really celebrate the holiday in style.

This year, the event is taking place on February 3rd, with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra coming to the city's town hall to wow crowds with renditions of Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony, Xian Xinghai's The Yellow River Piano Concerto and Harris' The Floating Bride, The Crimson Village.

The orchestra will be conducted by Perry So, with soprano Jenny Wollerman singing The Floating Bride, The Crimson Village. The year of the dragon will also be welcomed in by soloist John Chen, who will be playing piano in Xinghai's Yellow River cantata.

Another event that might interest holidaymakers is the Laughing Samoans comedy act at The Civic on February 18th. The comedy duo - Tofiga Fepuleai and Eteuati - have toured Australia, New Zealand, the US and the Pacific and could well be worth checking out.
