About Auckland, New Zealand

New Zealand’s largest city Auckland with its stunning harbour and bridge is located on a thin stretch of New Zealand’s North Island between the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea. The city’s waterside location makes it a prime destination for water sports, swimming and of course yachting which has enhanced its reputation as the 'City of Sails'.

Auckland has a wide range of activities for all visitors. The Auckland Art Gallery features a rare collection of masterpieces from various artists in the area while the Auckland Botanic Gardens is a haven for lovers of fauna and flora with more than 10,000 different plants featured. Other popular Auckland attractions include the Auckland Museum (Tamaki Paenga Hira), Auckland Zoo, Kelly Tarlton's Antarctic Encounter & Underwater World, the Viaduct Harbour and the Sky Tower.

Summer is the best time to visit Auckland. There are a number of stunning Islands in the Hauraki Gulf just off the coast of Auckland that are definately worth a visit.
