Hokianga Burnout Comp Weekend approaching
People attending the Burnout Comp Weekend in Dargaville this weekend may find it useful to book
a room in Hokianga hotels to make sure they can get to the event early.
Kaipara Carshow, organiser of the occasion, said it would be opening the gates to the site
early on Friday (February 3rd) so individuals can avoid the rush expected on Saturday, when the
competition will be held.
The event will see car owners come together to show-off their skills at burnout - the
practice of keeping a car stationary while spinning the wheels, producing smoke and heat.
And the winner will not be going away empty handed, as there is a prize of NZ$15,000 for the
person who comes first.
If poor weather hits the event, it will be moved to February 5th or 6th, so it may be a good
idea for competitors to book Hokianga hotels out for the whole weekend, which will also give them a
chance to explore the local area.
Dargaville itself features a museum and the Kaipara Vinatage Machinery Club and is described
as the "Gateway to the Kauri Forest" on its official website.
