News|Paihia Summer Festival starts this weekendThe occasion starts on Friday January 6th with lots of things to do and see for free in the Bay of Islands. Over the course of nine days, there will be entertainment and activities, including the Rotary Club Beach Club Dig on Sunday afternoon and Monster Mural Painting on Monday morning. The Paihia Summer Festival kicks off at noon this Friday on the lawn outside 35 Degrees South with a ukulele performance by local Fielding High School and a chance for non-players to learn the instrument. Other activities include an obstacle course, a jandal throwing competition, a day looking at rock pools, Cellini's Street Smart Funky Art Pavement Drawing and the Flippa Ball. The Bay of Islands Festival It! was recently held in the area, with live music and pie eating competitions among the events over the three days from Saturday 22nd October 2011.
