A much-loved sport which boasts an illustrious past, the world of tennis has managed to immortalise the names of many great players. From the great Vinnie Richards to the graceful Roger Federer, men’s tennis is studded with dozens of stars from all around the world. Women’s tennis too has its share of superstars such as Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova.

The ASB Tennis Centre which was established in 1920 is one of the most prestigious tennis clubs in Auckland. This state of the art sports venue plays host to a variety of both local and international tennis tournaments which attract some of the biggest names in the game. With 7 Outdoor Rebound Ace Courts, 3 Indoor Hard Courts and 2 Indoor Astrograss Tennis Courts, the ASB Tennis Centre boasts international standards of quality.

Situated in the quaint inner city suburb of Parnell, the ASB Tennis Centre is the hub of tennis in Auckland. This venue plays host to a couple of major tennis tournaments every year. The ASB Classic is a much-anticipated women’s tennis tournament which is contested annually on these courts. The Heineken Open is its men’s counterpart which is similarly popular around the world. Visitors in search of interesting things to do in Auckland will have the opportunity to enjoy a high quality tennis match while on holiday.

Both these events are held prior to one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world - the Australian Open. Travellers to Auckland during the month of January should not miss the opportunity to witness the intense live action at the ASB Tennis Centre. The New Zealand Davis Cup matches are also hosted at the Centre showcasing some of the country’s finest sporting talents.
